How to Wash Jeans Properly
When you do wash jeans, use cold water to prevent fading and shrinking. Turn them inside out before washing to protect the color on the outside. Wash with similar dark colors to avoid dye transfer. Use a gentle cycle or wash by hand if possible. Avoid hot water and bleach, as these can damage the fabric and cause fading. Use less detergent than you normally would.
Drying Your Jeans
Air drying is the best method for jeans because it helps them last longer. Hang them on a clothesline or lay them flat to dry. Avoid using a hot dryer, as high heat can shrink jeans and wear out the fabric. If you must use a dryer, use a low heat setting. Never iron jeans unless absolutely necessary.

To extend the time between full washes, spot clean stains immediately. Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the affected area. For odors between washes, hang jeans outside in fresh air or use a fabric spray designed for this purpose. Some people freeze jeans overnight to kill odor-causing bacteria, though this method is not scientifically proven to be highly effective.
