The Arrest
Britney Spears was arrested on March 4, 2026, after being pulled over on U.S. 101 in Ventura County while driving her black BMW 430i. California Highway Patrol officers reported she was driving at high speeds and erratically. The Charges

Spears will be offered the opportunity to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs, commonly known as a 'wet reckless.' This is a standard protocol for defendants without prior DUI history and low blood-alcohol levels. Under this resolution, she would receive 12 months of probation, credit for any time served, be required to complete a DUI class, and pay state-mandated fines and fees.
Subsequent Actions
On April 12, 2026, weeks after her arrest, Spears voluntarily checked herself into a substance abuse treatment facility. Her representative called the arrest an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable and stated it could be the first step in long overdue change needed in her life.
