U.S. House Primary Results
Indiana's 2026 primary featured competitive races across nine congressional districts. In District 2, Democrat Jamee Decio secured a commanding 73% of the vote against Shaun Michael Maeyens. District 3 Democrat Kelly Thompson won uncontested, while Republican incumbent Marlin A. Stutzman prevailed with 68% over Jon M. Kenworthy. In District 5, Democrat J.D. Ford won with 50% of votes cast. Several incumbents ran unopposed, including Republican Rudy Yakym in District 2 and Mark Messmer in District 8, as well as Democrat André Carson in District 7.
State Senate Primary Highlights
Several state senate races saw notable outcomes. In District 19, Blake Fiechter defeated incumbent Travis Holdman 59% to 41% in a Republican primary. Democrat Kirsten Root won District 21 with a substantial 85% majority over Joseph Kazlas. Many state senate races featured uncontested winners, particularly among Democratic candidates in districts 1, 4, 6, 11, 14, 17, 23, and 26. Several Democratic primaries drew multiple candidates. In U.S. House District 4, Drew Cox received 29% and Joe Mackey 21% with other candidates dividing remaining votes. District 5 saw J.D. Ford win with 50% while Jackson Franklin earned 15%. District 6 Democrat Cynthia Cinde Wirth won with 61% against William Kory Amyx's 16%. District 8 Democrat Mary Allen secured 66% against Tabitha Zeigler's 18%. District 9 presented a three-way race with Tim Peck at 37%, Brad A. Republican primaries also featured competitive matchups. In U.S. House District 4, incumbent Jim Baird won with 57% against Craig Haggard's 32%. District 5 incumbent Victoria Spartz prevailed with 59% over Scott A. King's 41%. District 6 saw incumbent Jefferson Shreve win 58% to 42% against Sarah Janisse Brown.
