The Violent Climax
The wedding reception turned tragic when Naz, a shady businessman to whom Nate owes over half a million dollars, crashed the event and declared he would be Nate's worst nightmare. After Nate and Cassie returned to their mansion following the ceremony, Naz was waiting inside with henchmen. The henchman, played by former NFL player and Super Bowl champion Matt Willig, brutally attacked Nate, throwing him around, smashing his face into walls, beating him, and dragging him up and down the grand staircase. Naz then cut off Nate's toe as payment enforcement. A prosthetic toe was used for filming the scene, which took several days to complete.
Pre-Wedding Turmoil
Tension surrounded the wedding from the beginning. Nate was shown having a panic attack before the ceremony as he ignored calls from Naz. The wedding itself was already fraught, with Cassie's mother Suze delivering a speech during the ceremony that planted seeds of doubt. Additionally, Nate's financial troubles created cracks in the facade he and Cassie had been maintaining. Heather, a bridesmaid and wife of Nate's business associate Fred, had already begun to suspect something shady about Nate's business dealings and warned her husband of the potential risks of being tied to him.
Fashion and Ceremony Details
The wedding was noted for its lavish production, with Cassie spending fifty thousand dollars on flowers alone. The ceremony featured extravagant florals and ballroom decor. Cassie wore a custom white gown with a corseted bodice and voluminous skirt, intentionally designed with a touch of tackiness to reflect her princess mentality and delusional money-making schemes. Nate wore a Bottega Veneta tuxedo, which raised eyebrows given his severe financial struggles, appearing more like commentary on his fake-it-till-you-make-it attitude than a fashion choice.
Guest Fashion Controversy
The wedding became a fashion battleground, with several guests' outfits generating significant controversy. Jules arrived in a revealing pale blue Acne Studios gown with sheer mesh that many felt was inappropriate for a wedding. Maddy wore a sheer green gown with matching boa, custom-made and inspired by vintage John Galliano, which some viewed as a revenge dress while others called it inappropriate. Rue attended in an oversized suit with Converse sneakers, which fans criticized as looking disheveled. Suze wore a scarlet frock with a high slit that risked overshadowing the bride. Guest reactions varied widely, with some calling the looks iconic and others branding them trashy.
Behind-the-Scenes Production
Jacob Elordi performed many of his own stunts during the violent beating sequence. Actor Jack Topalian, who plays Naz, praised Elordi as committed, giving, and well-prepared, noting that despite being beaten and abused on set, Elordi remained in good spirits between takes, cracking jokes and maintaining a light atmosphere. Topalian had to be careful with the prop clippers used to cut the prosthetic toe, as the sharp edges could have actually injured Elordi's real toe if squeezed too hard. The entire violent sequence took several days to film.
