The Courtroom Climax

Karen Page faces trial for her vigilante activities. Matt Murdock represents her and seizes the opportunity to confront Mayor Wilson Fisk. After the court adjourns, Fisk's personal assistant is shot by a sniper, forcing everyone to barricade inside the courthouse. Matt and Fisk engage in a dramatic confrontation where Matt publicly reveals his true identity as Daredevil.

The Controversial Courthouse Storming

Journalist BB Urich, who has been opposing Fisk throughout the season, calls on her supporters to take action. Citizens from across the city gather wearing devil masks and red facial coverings in support of Daredevil. A standoff develops between the Anti-Vigilante Task Force and protesters on the courthouse steps, which escalates into the protesters storming the building. This sequence directly parallels the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, featuring protesters in red baseball caps and masks forcing their way into a government building.

Thematic Criticism

Critics noted the finale undermines the season's political messaging. Throughout the season, Mayor Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force served as clear allegories for Trump and ICE. The finale's depiction of protesters storming the courthouse in red MAGA-style hats creates a confusing moral ambiguity, placing New York citizens in the role of January 6 insurrectionists. The scene includes a command change where the AVTF's harsh commander is replaced by a more moderate one who allows protesters to enter, raising questions about the showrunner's intended message.

Character Deaths and Post-Production Changes

The finale includes the death of a major character, described as one of Kingpin's closest allies. However, the fatal scene was significantly altered in post-production. The original filming showed a different outcome, but showrunner Dario Scardapane decided to reverse course and added CGI effects to change the scene's ending and kill off the character.

Surprise Returns and Setup

The finale features the return of an MCU veteran that excited audiences. The season ends with plot threads and character moments designed to set up Season 3, which has already been confirmed and is in active filming for a 2027 Disney+ release. Post-credits scenes provide additional setup for future storylines.
