Disappearance and Search
Christina Lynn Downer, the sister of SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie, disappeared in late November 2025. Fowlie last saw her in person on September 17, 2025, and last spoke to her by phone on October 5, 2025. Her final social media post was on December 15, 2025. Despite messages continuing to be sent from her cellphone into December, she was not seen or heard from directly after early November. The LAPD issued a missing persons poster on December 22, 2025, describing her as 5'01" with brown hair and brown eyes. Fowlie expressed deep concern that her disappearance was unlike her, noting she was very attached to her Miniature Pinscher dog named Rex and had no history of mental illness.
Investigation and Phone Compromise
In his April 29 update, Fowlie revealed that the family had reason to believe Christina's phone and social media were compromised in the weeks before she went missing. He stated that whoever possessed her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, ask for money, and create a false narrative that she was going off the grid. This detail was withheld earlier in the investigation on advice from detectives who did not want to compromise the case.
Confirmation of Death and Homicide Investigation
On April 29, 2026, approximately four months after Christina's disappearance, the LAPD informed Fowlie's family that Christina is no longer alive. Fowlie announced the tragic news via Instagram, stating that the case has officially transitioned from a missing person investigation to a homicide investigation. He expressed that the family's prayers for her safe return have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.
Jimmy Fowlie's Appeal for Justice
Following the LAPD's confirmation of his sister's death, Fowlie shared an emotional plea on social media, expressing his belief that whoever is responsible may be hoping to erase Christina in every way possible. He stated his intention to amplify her story and emphasize that she was a beautiful person who matters. Fowlie encouraged the public to share his posts and urged anyone with information to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at 213-996-1800, expressing hope that someone might find the courage to come forward with evidence.
Public Support and Awareness Campaign
Multiple celebrities and SNL cast members helped raise awareness about Christina's disappearance after Fowlie's initial public appeals in December 2025. Notable supporters who shared her case included SNL stars Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman, and Chloe Fineman, as well as celebrities including Ariana Grande, Amy Schumer, Angie Harmon, and others. The widespread media coverage and celebrity support helped amplify the search efforts across social media and news outlets.
