Drive Fore Kids Golf Tournament Details
Patrick Dempsey is returning to participate in the fourth edition of Drive Fore Kids, a charity golf tournament taking place June 25-28, 2026, at Falmouth Country Club in Maine. The tournament raises funds for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and The Dempsey Center, the cancer assistance organization founded by Dempsey himself. Last year's tournament raised $210,000, up from $108,000 at the inaugural event in 2023.
Dempsey's Involvement
Dempsey, a Maine native and actor best known for his role on Grey's Anatomy, is described by Dempsey Center president and CEO Brandon Hotham as 'a Mainer, through and through.' He played in the 2024 edition but was unable to participate in 2025. His return for 2026 is particularly significant as a local draw, with organizers noting that 80% of the tournament's audience and sponsor base is from the local market.
Celebrity Field and Expected Attendance
The 2026 tournament features 38 committed celebrity players, the largest field yet, including NFL Hall of Famers Jerome Bettis, Ronde Barber, Dwight Freeney, and Sterling Sharpe; Red Sox World Series winners Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, and Keith Foulke; and NBA star Vince Carter. Event organizers expect approximately 12,000 spectators over the three days, representing a 20-25% increase from previous years' average of 10,000 attendees.
