Yarros' Publishing Pattern
This romance novel fits into Rebecca Yarros' alternating publishing pattern between her uber-popular Fourth Wing fantasy series and standalone contemporary romance novels. She last published a contemporary romance in 2024 titled Variation, about a dancer who reconnects with a past love. The announcement of Peculiar Stars comes more than a year after the January 2025 publication of Onyx Storm, the third book in her Empyrean series.
Author's Publishing Pace
Yarros has slowed her publishing pace due to her Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and family commitments. In an interview, she explained that she was working 12 to 15 hours daily and wanted healthier work boundaries to be more present with her family. She now aims to work eight hours a day while continuing her writing career.
