Event Overview

The Liberty Twilight Qualifier is Liberty University's regular season finale and only home meet of the 2026 outdoor track and field season. Held at the newly resurfaced Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia, the one-day event attracts athletes from 28 colleges and universities, including major programs such as Duke, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Hampton, High Point, and Radford.

Schedule and Competition Format

Competition begins at 11:00 AM ET with field events including women's discus, women's long jump, and the lower-seeded section of the men's pole vault. A senior day ceremony honoring 23 Liberty seniors takes place at 1:30 PM, immediately followed by the start of running events at 1:55 PM. Live results are available throughout the meet courtesy of Blue Ridge Timing.

Athletic Significance

The meet provides one final opportunity for Liberty's 23 seniors to compete at their home facility. Additionally, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier and the following week's CUSA Outdoor Track and Field Championships serve as the final chances for Liberty athletes to qualify for the NCAA Division I East First Rounds meet, where the top 48 declared athletes in each event at season's end earn qualification to compete in Lexington, Kentucky from May 27-30.

Notable Competitors

Two of Liberty's nationally ranked athletes are scheduled to compete: Markus White, ranked No. 14 nationally in the men's long jump, and Christian Hicks, ranked No. 20 nationally in the men's discus. Both are attempting back-to-back Liberty Twilight Qualifier titles in their respective events. Josh Blalock will attempt to defend his men's 400 hurdles title and extend Liberty's winning streak to four consecutive titles in this event.
