What is Serie A
Serie A is the highest level of professional soccer in Italy. It is one of the most famous and competitive soccer leagues in the world. The league has a long history dating back to 1929 and includes some of the biggest and most successful soccer clubs in Europe.
How the competition works
The 20 teams in Serie A play a round-robin format, meaning each team plays every other team twice during the season, once at home and once away. This results in each team playing 38 matches total. Teams earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the league title.
Season structure
The Serie A season typically runs from August to May of the following year. At the end of the season, the top teams qualify for European competitions like the UEFA Champions League, while the bottom three teams are relegated to Serie B, the second-tier league in Italy.
Notable clubs
Some of the most successful and well-known Serie A clubs include Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma, and Napoli. These clubs have won multiple league titles and have produced many famous players throughout history.
