Release Details
The Punisher: One Last Kill will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 9 p.m. ET. The special presentation has a runtime of approximately one hour and marks the third Special Presentation from Marvel Studios, following Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special from 2022.
Jon Bernthal's Return
Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle/The Punisher and serves as a co-writer on the project alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Bernthal previously appeared in Daredevil Season 2, both seasons of The Punisher, and recently in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. His return marks the first solo project led by a non-Daredevil character from The Defenders Saga since Marvel brought them back and confirmed the shows as MCU canon.
Story and Cast
The official synopsis states: As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight. The special will center around Frank beating up thugs and protecting someone who reminds him of his daughter. The cast includes Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, Dominick Mancino as Benny Gnucci, and other supporting characters from Frank's world.
Connection to Broader MCU
The Punisher: One Last Kill begins a new era for the MCU by opening the door for other Defenders Saga characters to lead their own solo projects. Bernthal's Punisher will later appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which releases July 31, 2026. The special presentation is positioned as the start of a wave of new releases focused on characters from Netflix's The Defenders Saga.
