Official Announcement Details
Kagurabachi's anime adaptation was officially announced on April 27, 2026, with a new trailer and key visual revealed. Shochiku confirmed the April 2027 release date. The announcement ended weeks of speculation following a worldwide teaser campaign featuring the black goldfish motif tied to protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira's ability.
Production Team
The anime is being produced by CyPic with Tetsuya Takeuchi directing. Takeuchi is known for his work on Heavenly Delusion, Hinamatsuri, and notably the Naruto series, including the acclaimed Rock Lee vs. Gaara fight animation. Keigo Sasaki handles character designs, and Shochiku and CyberAgent are part of the production committee.
Voice Cast and Creative Involvement
Taihi Kimura, winner of the 2025 Seiyu Awards Best New Actor, voices protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira. Manga author Takeru Hokazono expressed excitement about the adaptation, praising director Takeuchi's expertise and noting that the staff members deeply understand the manga. Hokazono released a commemorative illustration celebrating the announcement.
World Tour and Preview Events
Kagurabachi will launch a world tour beginning Summer 2026, where 20 minutes from the first episode will be previewed at various events globally. The tour concludes in Japan during Spring 2027 with a full screening of the complete first episode before its official broadcast.
Source Material Success
The manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since September 2023, has become a major success with over 4 million copies in circulation. The series won the Next Manga Award 2024 in the Print Category and is viewed by Shueisha as their next big hit.
