About TD Garden
TD Garden is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in downtown Boston near the waterfront. The arena is home to both the Boston Celtics of the NBA and the Boston Bruins of the NHL. TD Garden replaced the original Boston Garden, which had been the Celtics' home for 67 years. The arena is named after its title sponsor, Toronto-Dominion Bank.
History of the Celtics' Home
Before moving to TD Garden in 1995, the Boston Celtics played at Boston Garden, one of the oldest and most famous arenas in basketball history. Boston Garden opened in 1928 and was known for its unique features, including a parquet floor and a sloped court. The move to the newer TD Garden gave the team modern facilities while the historic Boston Garden was demolished.
