About Moda Center
Moda Center is a modern sports and entertainment venue located in downtown Portland, Oregon. The arena opened in 1995 and has been the exclusive home of the Portland Trail Blazers ever since. The building also hosts concerts, other sporting events, and community events throughout the year.
Arena Name History
The arena was originally called the Rose Garden when it first opened in 1995. It kept this name for over 20 years. In 2017, Moda Health purchased the naming rights, and the venue was renamed Moda Center. This reflected a change in sponsorship but did not change the location or primary use as the Trail Blazers' home.
Location and Access
The arena is situated in Portland's downtown area, making it easily accessible to fans using public transportation or driving. The location places it near other downtown attractions and businesses. Portland is known for its commitment to public transit, and Moda Center is well-served by local bus and light rail systems.
Trail Blazers Significance
The Portland Trail Blazers are the city's primary NBA team and have a strong fan base in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. The team has been playing at Moda Center for nearly three decades, making it an iconic venue for basketball fans in the region. The arena has hosted numerous memorable games and playoff moments in Trail Blazers history.
